How to properly clean and disinfect IT equipment

If you need to disinfect a laptop, keyboard, printer, phone or other equipment, you can safely use the Clorox wipes in the yellow tubs.

You also may use Oxivir wipes.  Please see Disinfecting Electronics with Oxivir Tb Wipes

There are some bleach based blue tubs you should avoid using to ensure the coatings on the LCDs remain intact.

It’s best if you perform this disinfecting process with the equipment off.  There can be sufficient fluid in wipes that may short out circuitry.  Squeeze out any extra fluid.  The last few wipes are often very wet.  Do not accelerate drying with a cloth.  You must allow the product dry on the surface.  For the Clorox wipes it takes 5 minutes to disinfect.  Always refer to the manufacturers instructions.

Feel free to also take a look at “How to Clean Your Apple Products” guidelines

If you can’t find any Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, get some 99 percent isopropyl alcohol, distilled water, a spray bottle, and a disposable cloth. Mix a solution that is 70 percent alcohol and 30 percent water and put it in the spray bottle. Spritz the cloth with the solution – not the equipment. Do not reuse the cloth.

Please note, these are some general guidelines.  Always refer to the manufacturers recommended cleaning procedures. best
