1Not all applications and services are available to all Queen’s users. Please refer to individual services pages for details on eligibility or visit your Microsoft 365 subscriptions page to see what specific products and services are available to you.

Getting Started

If you have not already activated your NetID, you will need to do so before you can access this service. For more information, refer to Activating your NetID.

Once your NetID is activated, you can access the service by logging into Microsoft 365 at https://microsoft365.com/signin.

Please note: Access to Microsoft 365 and email is not available to applicants. If you have applied to Queen’s for courses in September, your Microsoft 365 account will be accessible after June 10, if accepted to Queen’s.

For information on Microsoft 365 products and services offered at Queen’s, refer to the individual application and service pages linked in the previous section and/or visit Microsoft 365 FAQs.  For Microsoft 365 learning and training resources offered by Microsoft, visit Microsoft 365 Help & Learning Center.

System Requirements

Microsoft 365 is designed to work best with the current version of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise for Windows and Mac. Previous versions of Office, such as Office 2016, 2013, 2010, Office 2007, and Office for Mac 2011 are not supported, please upgrade to latest version of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise.

For the best security and functionality, keep your web browser up to date. All modern browsers should update automatically, but please make sure your browser has auto-updates enabled. Microsoft Edge receive updates through Windows Update; it’s important that you install those updates as they become available.

For information on which browsers, Office clients, and apps are supported for Microsoft 365, please visit the Microsoft 365 System Requirements page on the Microsoft website.

Add-ins:  Availability and Support

Add-ins published by third parties are disabled and not generally available to users. Use of these add-ins generally requires registration on the vendor’s website and acceptance of the vendor’s terms of use, in certain cases, the user may purchase a subscription or license from the vendor to have access to the add-in’s full functionality.

While the Queen’s Microsoft 365 offering allows users to install select first-party add-ins published by Microsoft, only authorized third-party add-ins are available for users to install.

If there is an add-in that you would like to request for use with a Microsoft 365 application or service and you are a faculty or staff member, please contact the IT Support Centre using the online help form. Please note that along with considerations about usability and functionality of each add-in, the permission and risk profiles of the add-in need to be evaluated before IT Services will make it available for use. All requested third-party add-ins will be subject to the Security Assessment Process.

Add-ins are not considered by IT Services to be institutional or supported offerings unless otherwise stated. Enabled add-ins are provided to the University community “as is” and information and support for these add-ins is to be found at each publisher’s website. Many add-ins offer additional features that are available via paid subscription. When IT Services does enable an add-in, only the basic version of the add-in is enabled, and subscription to the paid features of an add-in, unless otherwise stated, is a private financial transaction between the individual user of the add-in and the publisher.

Accessibility

Microsoft 365 provides features that are accessible and usable for people who have special needs or disabilities. For more information, visit: Microsoft’s Accessibility in Microsoft 365.
