Job Description

Role Overview:

The Regional Media & Communications Coordinator supports the African Parks communications function across the Central African Region by coordinating logistical, administrative, and content-related activities. The role contributes to content development and editing across multiple channels, database and asset management, event and meeting coordination, procurement support, and overall facilitation of regional communications initiatives.

The Central African Region includes the Central African Republic and Chad.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The Regional Media & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and support the implementation of the Central African Region media, advertising, and communications strategy under the authority of the Head of Strategic Marketing and in coordination with the Regional Manager and the African Parks Media and Communications team.
  • Coordinate all logistical arrangements for media, photographers, and filmmakers operating in and out of the parks across the Central African Region.
  • Assist in compiling, proofreading, and finalizing media contracts and agreements.
  • Supervise and support country teams in the creation, procurement, shipment, distribution, and display of organizational merchandise.
  • Oversee, through country teams, the acquisition of materials and merchandise required for organizational needs and key internal and external events.
  • Catalogue, maintain, and update online systems, including the photographic database, Dropbox, Lightroom, MailChimp, Salesforce, and other shared documents.
  • Oversee the compilation of information for media materials, including Q&As, one-pagers, press releases, and media assets.
  • Research, proofread, and update written marketing content for the Central African Region, including park brochures, fact sheets, infographics, and webpages.
  • Support and manage, through country teams, the regular updating of regional social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X).
  • Create and manage regional communications calendars, identifying and planning for key events relevant to African Parks and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate closely with the African Parks Media and Communications Department and fundraising teams to ensure alignment of priorities, calendars, and communication needs.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Regional Manager, Global Media Manager, and Web & Digital Coordinator.
  • Train and support park and country-level communications teams to strengthen regional capacity and consistency.How Success look like
  • Timely delivery of high-quality, accurate, and consistent communications materials across the region.
  • Effective coordination with country teams, resulting in improved alignment and efficiency.
  • Well-maintained and accessible digital media assets and databases.
  • Strengthened regional visibility and media engagement for African Parks.

Education

  • University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
  • Additional training in digital communication, social media, project management, or communication strategy is a plus.
Job Requirements

Skills & Abilities

  • Fluent in French and English; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong experience in media relations, digital communication, and content creation.
  • Project and team management skills, including the ability to lead, mentor, and train park teams on communication practices.
  • Team player with experience working in multicultural, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable: willing to reside in remote areas and travel frequently.
  • Creative, proactive, and capable of handling crisis communications.
